Estrada named Topps IL Pitcher of the Month

Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals are pleased to announce that right-handed pitcher Marco Estrada has been honored as the August Topps International League Player of the Month. The honoree is chosen monthly by the field managers within the 14-team league.

Estrada made six starts over the course of August and went 4-0 with an ERA of 1.15. He surrendered just 24 hits and five earned runs in 39 innings during the month.

Estrada lowered his overall ERA nearly a full point from 4.34 to 3.40 during his August appearances.

The 26-year-old Estrada threw at least six innings in each of his six starts during the month, including a season-high eight innings on August 18 against the Buffalo Bisons.
