The Potomac Nationals are relocating the 3-game home series against the Frederick Keys from April 18th through April 20th to the Frederick Keys stadium. Due to problems with the field drainage system that was installed during the off season, the field is not playable. Moving these 3 games to Frederick lengthens the upcoming road trip, providing ample time for the repairs.
All three games will be played at Frederick's Harry Grove Stadium, and all three will begin at 1 P.M. with gates opening at 12 P.M. The regular home game schedule at Pfitzner Stadium will resume on May 2nd with the first game of a 3-game series vs. Myrtle Beach.
Potomac Nationals fans are encouraged to make the trip to Frederick and support the team on the road. The Keys have taken several steps to make this easy for our fans. All tickets for the games at Pfitzner Stadium for April 18-20 will be accepted at the gates at the Keys' stadium. For anyone without a ticket already, tickets are available for $5. All of the seating will be general admission; and all children under 12 will be admitted for free.
"We sincerely appreciate the willingness of the Frederick Keys to lend us a hand with this unexpected situation," said Potomac Nationals General Manager Josh Olerud. "Due to factors out of our control, the drainage system has not settled as expected. Our primary interest is always the safety of the Washington Nationals' players."
The Keys were quick to offer assistance once it became apparent that Pfitzner Stadium would be unplayable. "We have always valued our relationship with the P-Nats, and were happy to help another Carolina League team," said Frederick Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis. "We will go out of our way to make the Nationals feel right at home."
The Washington Nationals are aware of this situation and are cooperating fully with the need to relocate the games.
