TREY SWEENEY:
Across parts of two seasons in Somerset, Trey Sweeney established himself as one of the Patriots’ signature players. Originally a first round pick of the Yankees, Sweeney joined the Patriots on September 6, 2022 and was a key member of Somerset’s 2022 Eastern League Championship-winning team. He returned for the entirety of the 2023 season and helped guide the Patriots to their second straight Northeast Division title. Over 111 combined games in Somerset, Sweeney hit .250 (110-for-397) with 15 HR, 54 RBI, 73 R and 20 SB. Regularly serving as the Patriots’ everyday shortstop and leadoff hitter, Sweeney posted a .364 OBP, .309 SLG and .778 OPS.
